Audio cuts out on live stream

Kent Rager 7 years ago updated by Admin 6 years ago 7

My wife and I both have trouble listening to the live stream from Leo on our Android phones (both new phones and our older ones). The audio stops after a few minutes. It seems somewhat related to the screen turning off, because if I keep touching the screen to keep it on, the audio seems to keep going. However the audio doesn't cut out right away when the screen goes dark, so I'm not sure if this is coincidence or not. When the audio cuts out, it pauses for about 30 seconds I'd guess, and then tries to start again for a few seconds before entirely quitting and the pause button changing back to a play button. If the play button is pressed again at that point, the audio starts over from the beginning and only plays to where it quit. I found that I have to back all the way out and select the live stream again to remove the buffered audio. This only seems to happen with the live stream. Playing stored sermons works fine.

We recently changed our streaming provider (a couple churches still need to switch over yet) and issued updates to the iOS and Android apps. The Android app contained a new audio player. In our testing, this has eliminated 90% of the problems so for now, we are going to consider this Fixed (there will never be 100% perfection in streaming given all the variables from church to end user that could fail.)

Bible

I would like to  have a Bible available.

There are so many good, free, Bible apps available, that this has not been a focus for us, but if we get enough votes for it, it might be considered.

Live Stream "Black Out"

Wes 7 years ago updated by Ted Grimm 6 years ago 2

Today, Aug. 8/8/2017 I was listening to a sermon (actually 2) which cut-out on my Android Samsung6.I've experienced this 3 or 4 times in the past several months.  I didn't say anything about it due to what I thought was the fault of my phone - yikes, apparent;y not so according to the email I received today.  Don't have a clue as to why this happens, but I'll bring it up to our local expert and find out from him if anyone else has had the same problem.

Bluetooth problems and prayer notifications

bgerber 7 years ago updated by SamuelS 7 years ago 2

If I forget to click the I Prayed button, it doesn't give me a notification anymore. Also, when listening to sermons on Bluetooth in the car, I can't get them to turn off when I'm ready to get out of the car.

Thanks for you using our feedback system.

Regarding notifications if you view the prayer request but don't click "I Prayed," we are using the built in operating systems' notification mechanisms and this is functioning per normal behavior. System notifications don't keep notifying the user once a user has taken initial action on it (either by dismissing it or viewing the prayer request.)

The Bluetooth issue is not actually a bug (in that there is nothing broken), but it is a feature the app lacks. Your issue is tied to a couple of Feature Requests that have been already posted and will be considered together: allow app playback to be controlled by Bluetooth devices, headphones, and on the lock screen widget.

The archive history is not updating correctly on mobile devices.

Byron 7 years ago updated by Admin 7 years ago 5

I have looked at 3 different devices with a mix of iOS and Android and one is showing the most recent sermon is from May, another from June, and the last from 2015. Pulling down to refresh does nothing. in fact it doesn't even act like it is attempting to refresh on Android.

When I go to the church website or to the accentral website the archive list looks fine. It is only affected in the app.

We have not been able to replicate this in our testing. We'll leave this post open for a little while longer to see if others vote on it. If not, we'll close it as it appears to be specific to your device or internet connection.

Search bugs on Android

SamuelS 8 years ago updated by Admin 7 years ago 6

Searching for both a minister's name and a book/chapter at the same time doesn't seem to work very well. Searching for one or the other works well, but not both together.

add a spell-checker: there are often misspelled ministers' names

SamuelS 8 years ago updated by Admin 8 years ago 1
Answer

Thanks for the suggestion. This would be nice, but it is not feasible to incorporate a system wide spell checker that would know the correct way to spell every minister's name. Spell checkers do not work with proper nouns/names.
