Smart TV viewing issue

Jeffrey 2 years ago updated by Admin 12 months ago 7

My congregation recently switched to the AC Central/Vimeo platform (see my recent suggestion)… however, I noticed that while I can access the live stream thru the Smart TVs browser (Amazon Silk), I cannot access the AC Central website to access any past sermons (site will not even load). I’m assuming it’s an issue with JavaScript or some other backend programming compatibility, but it reduces my (and I’d guess many others) ability to rewatch videos at a later time.  Any assistance in resolving the issue is appreciated.

Our developers are able to replicate this problem on various smart TVs. Unfortunately, diagnosing this issue would be really challenging since smart TV browsers do not provide the typical error logging and developer tools necessary to troubleshoot. Given that we have a v.4 of AC Central in the works which will have a completely new web version and should be released before end of 2022, we will not be investing in fixing this issue. We will make sure v.4 works on the major smart TVs browsers although we cannot necessary support all of them given our limited budget. In the mean time, we recommend using Airplay or Chromecast from your computer or mobile device to the TV. Or connect via an HDMI cable.

Suggestion: Dedicated Firestick App

Jeffrey 2 years ago 0

Please consider making a dedicated Firestick App so that I (and many others) can watch our services on a larger screen (our TVs).  My congregation recently moved from Facebook to your app (thru Vimeo) and it has been difficult accessing the videos, I now have to go thru my smart TVs internet browser.  When it was on Facebook I just had to open up the app and click the video that was right there when it opened.  Having a dedicated Firestick app would be so nice to be able to access my congregation’s livestream each week.  Please consider this and thank you for your time.

Can you add an option to view video streams in landscape on smartphones?

Video in landscape is already possible on both iOS and Android versions of AC Central. Did you make sure auto-rotate is not disabled on your device?

Headcovering sermon missing?

ac2 2 years ago updated by Admin 2 years ago 1

There was a previously uploaded sermon from Matt Drayer on Sunday afternoon 6/5 on 1 Corinthians 11 that appears to be missing now. Was it accidentally deleted and will it be re-uploaded?

Thanks for letting us know. This has been fixed. You will need to delete and re-download the song to your device (it may take a while for the updated lyrics to show up if the data was cached.)

Rumble player vs. VIMEO

Joel 2 years ago updated by Admin 2 years ago 1

I see that alot of AC churches are using Vimeo for video, I wasn't sure if that was something Onward Media suggests, or if that is up to the individual churches. I saw that some news sites are moving their hosting from Vimeo to Rumble because it is cheaper, and there is less censorship. I wanted to throw that out there incase someone would start reporting sermons. I think hosting on a service that has more freedom of speech protections may be a better option so we don't wakeup one morning to find sermons missing, or churches blocked.

Possible to add download button while listening to sermon

Andy S 2 years ago 0

When some one shares a sermon with me it would be nice if I could download it from the “play sermon/event screen”

Often I will open the sermon and listen to it, but to download it I have to search AC central for that specific sermon/event, and download it from the search page. Usually this works fine, but sometimes I can’t find the sermon again with the search function.

Another case is when I decide halfway through a sermon that I want to download it, and I again have to go back to the search page to do this.
