Smart TV viewing issue

Jeffrey 2 years ago updated by Admin 12 months ago 7

My congregation recently switched to the AC Central/Vimeo platform (see my recent suggestion)… however, I noticed that while I can access the live stream thru the Smart TVs browser (Amazon Silk), I cannot access the AC Central website to access any past sermons (site will not even load). I’m assuming it’s an issue with JavaScript or some other backend programming compatibility, but it reduces my (and I’d guess many others) ability to rewatch videos at a later time.  Any assistance in resolving the issue is appreciated.

Our developers are able to replicate this problem on various smart TVs. Unfortunately, diagnosing this issue would be really challenging since smart TV browsers do not provide the typical error logging and developer tools necessary to troubleshoot. Given that we have a v.4 of AC Central in the works which will have a completely new web version and should be released before end of 2022, we will not be investing in fixing this issue. We will make sure v.4 works on the major smart TVs browsers although we cannot necessary support all of them given our limited budget. In the mean time, we recommend using Airplay or Chromecast from your computer or mobile device to the TV. Or connect via an HDMI cable.

I was just wondering if version 4 has been released yet… and if the issue had been resolved on the Amazon Silk browser for FireTV and Firestick devices.

Planned

We are currently testing the v.4 mobile apps. You'll know when it is released because it looks completely different. The browser versions have not yet begun extensive testing so smart TV browser compatibility is not yet determined.

thank you for looking into this issue and glad that you were able to replicate it.  I hope that you consider Amazon Silk as one of the “major” smart tv browsers as it is the one Amazon forces upon us as users of an Amazon FireStick.  Anyway, I will keep an eye out for the updated version and will let my elderly family members that watch on their firestick know what is happening (and the timeframe).

thank you for your time

Yes, the Amazon browser will definitely be one we'll test.
