Audio cuts out on live stream

Kent Rager 7 years ago updated by Admin 6 years ago 7

My wife and I both have trouble listening to the live stream from Leo on our Android phones (both new phones and our older ones). The audio stops after a few minutes. It seems somewhat related to the screen turning off, because if I keep touching the screen to keep it on, the audio seems to keep going. However the audio doesn't cut out right away when the screen goes dark, so I'm not sure if this is coincidence or not. When the audio cuts out, it pauses for about 30 seconds I'd guess, and then tries to start again for a few seconds before entirely quitting and the pause button changing back to a play button. If the play button is pressed again at that point, the audio starts over from the beginning and only plays to where it quit. I found that I have to back all the way out and select the live stream again to remove the buffered audio. This only seems to happen with the live stream. Playing stored sermons works fine.

We recently changed our streaming provider (a couple churches still need to switch over yet) and issued updates to the iOS and Android apps. The Android app contained a new audio player. In our testing, this has eliminated 90% of the problems so for now, we are going to consider this Fixed (there will never be 100% perfection in streaming given all the variables from church to end user that could fail.)

That was supposed to say ...stayed home...

Just FYI, I started home sick two Sundays ago and it was still happening.

Jill and I both have Motorola G5+ 64Gb phones with Android 7.0. Before these phones, I was using a Moto X 2md generation with Android 6.0 and Jill was using a Motorola G 2nd generation with Android 4.4.4. The audio drop issue with the live stream has happened on all these phones.

Thanks for the feedback. We've had some reports about this problem on iOS (Apple) devices but nothing definitive on Android devices. Could you reply back to let us know the type of phones and what versions of Android OS they are running?
